I thought that this website was relevant due to the fact that our wiki just had us argue about online education. There are some good facts in this article like using wikis and discussion boards. That really rings a bell with what we are doing in here. The article also points out that a lot of online teachers are using it as a second job because of how flexible online teaching is. There is a lot of good links to help out online teachers as well.
This article is very pertinent to what we are completing ourselves in class. There are several arguments for and against online education as we have seen in our class wiki posts. Teachers are taking on online classes as a second job because of its flexibility. However, in Florida one of my colleagues was considering taking on online teaching INSTEAD of face-to-face instruction and found that it was 24 hours around the clock attention to the students. There are rules set up to make sure the teacher/professor is available when the students need him or her and it can be very taxing. Also, I don't know if I could sit at home all the time and work without interacting face-to-face with my students and colleagues. That is one my favorite parts of my job, the interactions.
